Advanced Technology Revive Sustainable Agriculture
We strive to operate in a sustainable way, in order to meet the needs of our present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
This philosophy underpins all aspects of our company business, from our day to day activities to innovations in crop science, soil science, pasture management, livestock breeding and animal husbandry.
Animal Welfare
Animal welfare is a priority for us. We have a responsibility to ensure that the animals in our care are treated with kindness and respect.
Our practices are guided by the Five Freedoms:
- Freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom from pain, injury, or disease
- Freedom to express normal behaviour
- Freedom from fear and distress
Biosecurity
As part of the Australian Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program, we have developed a Farm Biosecurity Management Plan that includes keeping records of livestock, vehicle and visitor movements onto and around our farm.
On-farm biosecurity systems are implemented to minimise both the risk of infectious diseases being introduced to livestock production properties and the subsequent spread of any such diseases.
By ensuring our livestock are, and remain, free of serious infectious diseases, we can maximise farm productivity and minimise animal discomfort, stock losses and medical treatment costs.
We do this by:
- Managing and recording the introduction and movement of livestock in a way that minimises the risk of introducing and/or spreading infectious diseases
- Controlling and if possible, recording the movements of people, equipment and vehicles entering the property to minimising the potential for property contamination
- Preventing and controlling animal diseases on-farm by regularly monitoring and managing livestock
Regenerative Farming
We practice regenerative farming and sustainable soil management. Our farming methods are designed to replenish the soil, rather than deplete it.
Our practices include:
- Crop rotation
- Rotational Grazing
- Composting
- Crop diversification
Renewable Energy
We are committed to implementing renewable energy sources wherever possible.
Our solar panels, for example, find widespread application in the operational system of farms, where they power things like electric fences and water submersible pumps.
This way, we reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
